Jaw Expansion
and Headgear

If there are discrepancies between the top and bottom jaws in both the width and length this may be addressed by using headgear in conjunction with an expansion plate prior to the placement of upper and lower fixed braces or Invisalign.

The headgear is worn at nights and is attached by elastics to hooks on the expansion plate. Below are before and after photos of a patient treated with an expansion plate and headgear followed by upper and lower fixed braces.
