Orthopaedic Appliances
Stage one appliances are called Functional Orthopaedic Appliances (eg. Expansion appliances, Magnoglides & Headgear) as their actions are directed at correcting discrepancies in width and length between the top and bottom jaw bones.
Functional appliances can only be used in GROWING patients.
